Acer Secure Boot Disable Instructions
Issue
Affected Acer devices display a "Security Boot Fail" error at startup. The steps below disable Secure
Boot in the BIOS/UEFI setup to allow the device to boot.
Steps to Disable Secure Boot on an Acer PC
1. Power off the computer completely.
2. Turn the computer back on and immediately press F2 repeatedly until the BIOS/UEFI
setup screen appears.
3. In BIOS, navigate to the Security Tab
4. Set a Supervisor Password:
• Select Set Supervisor Password.
• Enter 1 as the password.
• Confirm new password.
• Click Save
5. Navigate to the Boot tab.
6. Locate Secure Boot and change the settings to Disabled
7. Return to the Security tab.
8. Remove the Supervisor Password:
• Select Set Supervisor Password again.
• Enter the current password 1.
• Click Clean.
9. Navigate to the Exit tab.
10. Select Exit Saving Changes
• Click Yes when prompted.
